Sexist Nike’s “Gold Digging” Shirt Under Fire

Nike is a retail clothing manufacturer for the London Olympics last year,
but we are beginning to question the spirit of the brand team. A controversial Olympic-inspired Nike t-shirt on the market adorned with the phrase "Gold Digging." Because the clothes were only available for women, fashion blogger and Twittersphere are called sexy. Is not there another more positive, inspirational phrases can be printed on a tee Nike woman? "Reach for the Gold," "Go for the Gold," or "Good as Gold," will get a point in the trademark Nike "Just Do It" kind of way. A gold digger is a woman out for money men. In the context of the Olympics, phrases such as "Gold Digging" means you do not deserve or do not get your gift, and you go about getting a fraudulent or unsportsmanlike manner. American women in the Olympics this year working hard for their achievements, and take home the gold medal twice as much as their male counterparts.
But this did not stop many of the major retailers carry, and almost sold out of the "Gold Digger" Nike t-shirt. Style, which comes in black, gray, or white with gold lettering, is currently available in the footlocker, Finish Line, Sports Authority, Nordstrom, and EastBay for $ 24.99. Some sites have put a shirt sold, most likely since the Olympics ended.
Nike own website lists "Gold Digging" shirt as a "force that starts the conversation." And start a conversation that must have. The

Many people see anything wrong with it.
Fashion blog Styleite, who wrote about the t-shirts, tweeted, "U.S. women win two-thirds of the country's gold medal in the Olympics, and @ Nike tee rewards them sexist.
On the other hand, few people appreciate the tongue-in-cheek shirts Nike Olympics. "I've had so many compliments on my shirt or laugh, I wear a gold digging '# nike," said a woman on Twitter. Other users laugh, "Truth hurts!" A college girl tweeted, "I can think of a few girls on this campus who have to wear this." One woman wrote, "I want one," while another asked out loud, "Seriously ... this is really a big deal?"
Nike did not immediately respond to calls for comment. Because "Gold Digging" t-shirt is so widespread and has been sold in many places, it's doubtful things will be withdrawn. This is not the first time Nike has come under fire this year related to the Olympics. The women's football team the U.S. is the subject of ridicule for wearing a Nike t-shirt that read "Greatness Has Found" after his gold medal win over Japan. People found this arrogant slogan and inappropriate. Ben Rothenberg of the New York Times tweeted, "Greatness has been found, 'but not humility Gross,." Meanwhile, SI.com 's Courtney Nguyen agreed. "Put those away t-shirts, USA," he tweeted. "Stay classy."
In addition, the controversial Nike TV ad featuring a young 200-pound running headlines at the beginning of the game in London.UPDATE: Nike confirm us with the following statement on the "Gold Digging" their shirts: "Nike has consistently supported female athletes and enjoy their position as a positive role model. The t-shirt using the phrase in an ironic way relevant given it was released just as the world which focuses on the success of female athletes.
